ZERO’s many years of leadership and innovation in developing fire and
smoke seals for international and U.S. positive pressure code requirements have
produced top-quality components and engineered gasketing systems that meet the
highest standards of design and life safety.
ZERO’s positive pressure seals are tested and listed according to U.S.
testing agencies’ classifications for Category G edge sealing systems and
Category H smoke and draft control systems. Category G edge seals are required
for use on Category B wood core doors. Category H smoke seals are required for
all positive-pressure doors carrying “S” labels.
Our INTUMET™ intumescent material is used in Category A doors to eliminate
the need for add-on seals to achieve positive-pressure fire ratings. (Smoke seals
may still be required.) Our proprietary intumescent technology affords virtually
unlimited flexibility in meeting our OEM partners’ needs. All INTUMET materials
are manufactured at our New York facility, ensuring convenient sourcing and stable
pricing for our domestic customers. We welcome inquiries from manufacturers regarding
either routine or specialized requirements for integrating intumescence into their
Category A doors.
When standards or specific applications require intumescent protection, our
™ INTUMET material delivers the performance best suited for most
fire and smoke doors. Developed specifically for doors, this rubber-matrix material
begins intumescing at the relatively low temperatures where organic materials
begin to emit combustible and noxious gases. It expands gradually to fill all
gaps with moderate force that will not unlatch the door.
See below and in the attached CAD library for examples of ZERO fire and smoke
seals. And visit our website for full details of our complete line.
