A Heritage of Innovation

MAPEI's culture of innovation and excellence is rooted in the company history. Founded in Milan, Italy by Mr. Rodolfo Squinzi in 1937, MAPEI grew from a small wall-paint producer into a specialist in adhesives and sealants for building during the 1950's. Under Mr. Squinzi's leadership, the company developed its first adhesives for ceramic tile in the 1960's. Rodolfo Squinzi called the company "Materiali Ausiliari Per Edilizia e Industria" (Auxiliary Materials for Construction and Industry) and today the company is still referred to by this original acronym, MAPEI.

Strong from its success in Italy, MAPEI began expanding across Europe in 1967 and into North America in the 1970's. Since 1989, MAPEI has rapidly created successful subsidiaries around the globe.

Our polymer-modified hydraulic tile grout, Ultracolor®, is efflorescence-free and unique in the world. The Keralastic System®, our premium flexible latex mortar system, is used to bond large stone and tiles to walls and floors in high-traffic areas. The Granirapid® Fast-Setting Mortar System is designed for high-strength, rapid installations and to install difficult-to-bond porcelain and glass-bodied tile. MAPEI's Ultracontact Technology is a revolutionary mortar specially formulated to provide 100% coverage when installing large tile or stone – no back-buttering, no having to beat tile in.

Mapecem Premix is a resin-based binder enabling crews to install a mortar bed up to 4" (10,1cm) thick that is ready for flooring after 24 hours and ceramic tile & stone after 3-4 hours. Compare this to the 28 day delay of traditional products. MAPEI's Ultrabond® ECO 290 is an ultra-white, solvent-free resilient flooring adhesive that will not contribute to staining. Use this adhesive with Planipatch® our premium patching compound and you have an installation that is guaranteed not to stain! Finally, our Ultratop self-leveling cement topping provides a strong, abrasion-resistant pallet for all types of inegral coloring agents,
stains and more!
