AMBICO Limited was founded in 1955 by two close friends, Israel Shinder and Emmanuel Lightstone. Their foresight and fortitude resulted in a Company that successfully weathered a number of significant changes in the construction industry. The son of Israel Shinder, Jack Shinder, is now President of AMBICO Limited and the son-in-law of Emmanuel Lightstone, Judah Silverman is Vice-President of the Company. They have led the firm through a turbulent and ever-evolving market, to elevate AMBICO to its position as a world leader in the design and manufacture of highly specialized door and frame products.
In 2005, AMBICO and its staff, sales representatives, suppliers and friends celebrated the 50th anniversary of AMBICO Limited. The future is brighter than ever.
AMBICO Limited products are separated into two categories: "Engineered" and "Decorative" ... decorative doors and frames include stainless steel, brass and bronze clad, recessed panel steel -- and are performance tested. They integrate stunning beauty into the architectural design of a building.
Engineered doors meet stringent technical specifications after years of research and development. AMBICO Limited prides itself in being the sole manufacturer of certain types of highly specialized products:
- FEMA 361 Tornado Resistant Doors and Frames as large as 4’x 8’ in singles or pairs
- Operable assembly of pairs of steel doors which attained an STC 59 rating
- Never before achieved 90-min fire rating of an STC 50 wood door
- Borrowed lites which withstand the highest blast pressures that could be achieved, as high as 90 psi.
