SteelCurtain — Computerized Security Control
SteelCurtain™ combines the proven fire safety of Won-Door’s FireGuard™
with powerful new software to create an effective security package. SteelCurtain
allows designers to create large open spaces for high traffic use that can be
sealed in the event of emergency or at the close of business hours from a central
location.
Compartmentalization in high occupancy facilities
Won-Door’s SteelCurtain™ spans openings of virtually unlimited
widths and heights up to 23 feet with the doors hidden in wall pockets until
closed. Upon activation of an alarm (automatically in the case of fire alarm,
or manually by security personnel), the doors close immediately, sealing the
facility into individual compartments. Doors remain closed until the situation
is under control.
For example, just days after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, a
security breach was reported at the Airport in Burbank, California. Security
personnel immediately closed the Won-Door Fireguard doors installed in four
locations, restricting movement within the terminal while a search was conducted
and the occupants safely evacuated.
Controlling Access
In order to minimize vandalism, or control access during repair and renovation,
schools, churches and government facilities need to restrict access. Yet, total
lockdown may interfere with repairs or legitimate business. With SteelCurtain,
building security can put a specific door in the “Patron Access”
or “Once” mode so it will open briefly to allow passage, then resume
the closed and secure position. Should the need arise, security personnel have
the ability to secure portions or all of the facility at their fingertips.
SteelCurtain’s controlled access also works well as an essential part
of a corporate emergency preparedness plan. Planners can install SteelCurtain
to protect executives, funnel escape into safe routes, and secure corporate
assets during a crisis.
Advanced Synchronized Locking (ASL)
Advanced Synchronized Locking (ASL) is Windows®-based software
designed to give in-house security personnel control over each Won-Door (and
other connected doors) within the monitored system. ALS can report problems,
operate doors manually or automatically according to preprogrammed instructions
such as holidays, work hours etc. Additionally ASL can be programmed to send
door status and malfunction information to a remote site using a modem or via
internet connection. Within seconds after an “incident” has been
detected anywhere within the monitored system, the doors in that area can be
selected and instructed to close. Simultaneously ASL will gather information
detailing when and where the breach occurred.
Cost-Saving Benefits
Besides a low installation costs, Won-Door’s SteelCurtain system saves
money when ALS is used to monitor and operate other doors as well. ALS’s
easy integration with other remote-capable doors allows designers to install
a single monitoring system. Design professionals can offer clients money-saving
benefits of a SteelCurtain package while solving means of egress problems and
security issues. Building owners will find that SteelCurtain can be easily installed
in new as well as existing construction.
Custom-Made Access Control Barrier
SteelCurtain™ uses a computer (with emergency power supply) to constantly
monitor door components including door openings. Each SteelCurtain door is made
to order and can meet your security requirements by adding an alarm, motor brake,
access control card reader, or locking mechanism.
