Terra's Powder Containment Room combines many benefits of a BioSafe modular cleanroom and a biological safety cabinet, including a filtration system that maintains cleanliness levels to Class 10-100,000 / ISO 4-8.

Its all-steel construction creates smooth internal surfaces that are easy to wipe clean and disinfect (see "BioSafe Cleanroom" description for construction details). In addition, its versatile air handling system lets you configure the working space for handling, analysis, and repackaging of pharmaceutical powders.

New Overview Image

Neutral Pressure Room: 100% Air Recirculation Protects Outside Lab (Fig. A)
Configured as a neutral pressure room, this system ensures 100% recirculation of exhausted air and complete protection of the external environment.

The CleanZone Recirculation System creates a HEPA-filtered clean zone that capture hazardous powders, protecting the external environment.

Positive Pressure Room: Protects Product (Fig. B)
The additional protection of ceiling Filter/Fan Units (FFUs) optimizes product purity by creating a positive pressure of filtered air, which prevents the influx of airborne aerosols, microbes and other submicron particles.

Negative Pressure Room: Protects Personnel (Fig. C)
For additional protection of personnel inside the enclosure, the CleanZone Recirculation System lets you adjust the percentage of air recirculated into the containment room. By increasing the percentage of exhaust air, you increase the negative pressure that pulls air away from the operator.

The Powder Containment Room can be equipped with multiple CleanZone modules. Based on other environmental requirements, Terra engineers prepare a recommended configuration and complete system drawings.

Optional features include

Air conditioning – maintains a constant temperature above or below ambient. Ceiling plenum chambers recirculate air for greater efficiency.

Humidification/dehumidification – stand-alone modules hold a constant relative humidity.

Ionization – low-voltage ionizing bars, integrated into FFUs, control surface charges and the particles they attract.

Raised floor – solid or perforated, facilitates true laminar flow.

Air Showers – scrub particles off of personnel and products before they enter the room.

Pass-Throughs – complete lines of conventional and fire-rated pass-throughs.

High-Speed Roll-Up Doors – perfect for large process equipment or packages.

Special Lighting – in addition to standard fluorescent fixtures, Terra offers teardrop lights installed below ceiling FFUs, or UV lights for sterilization or fluorescence detection.

VHP® Biodecontamination Units – employ vaporized hydrogen peroxide to sterilize the cleanroom.

Special Utilities – provisions for vacuum, air, nitrogen, and other utilities.

Windows – available in tempered glass, dissipative PVC, or polycarbonate (Lexan®)

All rooms are factory assembled and tested as complete turnkey systems before shipping. Installation and certification services are available. See separate descriptions for configuration overview and other cleanroom styles.
