Flattened Expanded Metal

Steel mills, automotive facilities, utility companies, commercial buildings and a vast number of other industries choose SlipNOT® expanded metal because it is easy to retrofit over any existing slick surfaces. Some of the common applications for retrofitting expanded metal are: stair treads/covers, worker platforms, flooring, mezzanines and many others.

General Information:

  • Typical stock length and width: 4’x8’, 4’x10’
  • Must be flattened style, not regular expanded metal.
  • Available to specific size, shape, and/or fabrication.
  • Standard tolerance: Mill (for stock material), + or – 1/8” CTS, or according to specifics.
  • Also available: Expanded metal grating.
  • Fabrication:  Expanded metal can be sheared, welded, flame cut, torch cut, laser or water-jet cut, plasma cut, countersunk, drilled and punched for complete versatility both in the shop and field.
  • Retrofitting:  The simplest way of retrofitting existing grating is by tack-welding this product directly over the area.

Steel Flattened Expanded Metal:

  • Available in: Grade 1 (Fine), Grade 2 (Med.) or Grade 3 (Coarse)
    Product Features:
  • Advantages: SlipNOT® Steel expanded metal has an unmatched surface hardness, a long life and a lower cost. Expanded metal retrofits over existing dangerously slick gratings creating a safe, productive walking surface. 
  • Durability: Steel expanded metal coated with SlipNOT® has a file hard surface of over 55 Rc with a bond strength of over 4000 psi.
  • Finishes: Steel expanded metal can be ordered in mill finish, painted, or hot dipped galvanized.
  • Slip Resistant Standards: Plates exceed all requirements for coefficient of friction specified by ANSI, ASTM, ADA, NFPA, and OSHA. SlipNOT®’s coefficient of friction is greater than or equal to .85.

Aluminum Flattened Expanded Metal:

    Product Information:
  • Available SlipNOT® surface: Aluminum, Stainless Steel, and Steel.
  • Available in Grade 1 (Fine), Grade 2 (Med.), (Grade 3 Coarse, only offered on Steel SlipNOT® surface).
    Product Features:
  • Advantages: SlipNOT® Aluminum expanded metal is lightweight, durable, and does not rust. Expanded metal retrofits over existing dangerously slick gratings creating a safe, productive walking surface. 
  • Durability: Aluminum expanded metal coated with SlipNOT® has a bond strength of 2000 psi.
  • Finish: Aluminum expanded metal can be ordered in mill finish or painted.
  • Slip Resistant Standards: Plates exceed all requirements for coefficient of friction specified by ANSI, ASTM, ADA, NFPA, and OSHA. SlipNOT®’s coefficient of friction is greater than or equal to .85.

Stainless Steel Flattened Expanded Metal:
