Sandell®’s Cork
Sandell®’s Cork is manufactured from all natural components and is available standard or self expanding. Unlike many other products used for expansion and contraction, cork is one of the most durable products on the market today. Cork will not collapse over time like other fibrous materials, but on the contrary, retains it’s shape and structural bond perfectly. Cork is water resistant and always forms a precise seal so that gases and other elements cannot penetrate the joint. Sandell®’s Cork is the proper choice for insulation, in that it is fire resistant, does not absorb dust and is non-toxic when burned. It can retain shock and sound like no other substance and it’s uses are infinite. Sandell®’s Cork has an interlocking design that has a compression/recovery rating of nearly 100%. Sandell®’s Cork conforms to ASTM D-1752 type II and type III, as well as the Corps of Engineers AASHTO-M-153-84, HH-F- 341-F requirements.

Sandell®’s Non-Crosslinked Polyethylene Foam
(Available With or Without Peel Top)
Sandell®’s Non-Crosslinked Polyethylene Foam expansion joint filler is available with or without peel top. Both products are commonly used for expansion and contraction in vertical and horizontal joint applications. This product is recommended for cold-applied sealants such as silicone, butyle, polysulfide, acrylic, and polyurethane. The unique closed cell structure of this product, allows for low moisture absorption. It can be custom cut to fit any application, and does not require bond breaker. Due to the products ease of use, and pliable characteristics, it can be applied more rapidly and efficiently as opposed to costly alternative joint fillers currently on the market today. This product forms a forceful seal that permanently closes the joint. It eliminates the possibility of dirt, moisture and other debris from becoming trapped within the cavity, while permitting movement within the joint. Sandell®’s Non-Crosslinked Polyethylene Foam, with or without peel top is in compliance with ASTM D-3575 requirements. Common sizes include, but are not limited to: 1/8” to 6” thickness, and the standard widths are: 1/2” to 60”. All sizes can be customized depending on the necessary requirements for Sandell®’s Non- Crosslinked Polyethylene Foam.
Sandell®’s Non-Crosslinked Polyethylene Foam is available in black or white.

Sandell®’s Crosslinked Polyethylene Foam

Sandell®’s Crosslinked Polyethylene Foam expansion joint filler is available with or without peel top. Both products are commonly used for expansion and contraction in vertical and horizontal joint applications. It can be used in driveway applications, on sidewalks, highways, runways, curbs, gutters and apron applications. This product was specifically designed for use with hot applied sealants. Sandell®’s Crosslinked Polyethylene Foam expansion joint filler is compatible with most rubber asphalt and coal tar-rubber compounds, and is appropriate for sealing areas that require chemical resistance. The product will remain intact for the duration of the application and will not succumb to the elements. It is widely accepted in construction specifications, due to the fact that it does not pose any health hazards to building occupants. It is environmentally friendly and low in cost, for energy efficient construction. The product can be custom cut to fit any application, and does not require bond breaker. Sandell®’s Crosslinked Polyethylene Foam, with or without peel top is in compliance with ASTM D-3575 standards. Common sizes include, but are not limited to: 1/8” to 6” thickness, and the standard widths are: 1/2” to 60”. All sizes can be customized depending on the necessary requirements for Sandell®’s Crosslinked Polyethylene Foam. This product is available in standard gray or beige.

Sandell®’s Standard Backer Rod
Sandell®’s Standard Backer Rod closed cell polyethylene foam is a round, low density, insulation, nonabsorbent back up material used to control sealant depth. This product is most commonly used in glazing operations, windows, doors, curtain walls, partitions, log home chinking, pavement joints, expansion joints, pre-cast units, isolation joints and copings. Sandell®’s Standard Backer Rod has a skinlike outer texture that is moisture resistant. Most importantly, sealants will not adhere to Sandell®’s Standard Backer Rod, therefore no bond breaker is required. It is highly flexible and has the ability to be compressed for easy installation. Sandell®’s Standard Backer Rod is compatible with urethane, silicone, butyl, polysulfide, acrylic, polyurethane, silicone, latex and most other cold sealants. Common sizes include, but are not limited to: 1/4” to 4”. All sizes can be customized depending on the necessary requirements for Sandell®’s Standard Backer Rod. This product is gray in color and is available in a wide range of diameters.

Sandell®’s Open Cell Backer Rod
Sandell®’s Open Cell Backer Rod is a soft, pliable, round open cell back up material used in expansion and contraction joints. It serves as a backing for elastomeric and other applied caulking sealants. Sandell®’s Open Cell Backer Rod controls the depth and the amount of sealant that is required in an application. It is particularly suited for specialty applications where standard backer rod is not recommended. It is most commonly used in concrete and pre-cast concrete walls, floors, partitions, bridge construction, parking decks, curtain walls, glazing, log home construction, highway and pavement maintenance. This product's unique composition can conform to any temperature and allows both hot or cold installations. The dynamic inert chemical properties associated with this product, allow it to resist oil, gasoline, and most solvents effortlessly. Having been composed with an open cell design, air is allowed to pass through both sides of the sealant more rapidly for a uniform cure. For this reason it is not recommended for use in floor joints with self leveling sealants, or in high traffic areas, where additional support is required. Sandell®’s Open Cell Backer Rod structure also eliminates the out gassing and cold flow problems often associated with closed cell polyethylene backer rods. Common sizes include, but are not limited to: 3/8”, 5/8”, 7/8”, 1-1/8”, 1-1/2”, & 2”. All sizes can be customized depending on the necessary requirements for Sandell®’s Open Cell Backer Rod.
