MANUFACTURER

Since 1922, Robbins has set the standard for sports surface design, leading the industry with an unmatched commitment to research and development in sports flooring technology. Robbins has led the way in studying and testing the dynamic interaction between the athlete, the activity and the sports surface. Beneath the surface of our floors you'll find the results of our ongoing quest for knowledge -- advanced, skillfully engineered sports floor systems designed to promote enhanced comfort and performance for athletes of all levels.

PRODUCT PRESENTATION

The Robbins Institute, the Educational Arm of Robbins Sports Surfaces, was developed to present a comprehensive look at dynamic testing, biomechanics and performance considerations in selecting sports surfacing. At the Robbins Institute, you can see and evaluate for yourself a representative sampling of the entire sports flooring industry, as well as the complete line of Robbins floors. Call your Robbins Dealer or Robbins for the Institute nearest you.

Wood Systems:

Bio-Channel®
Strip maple system with the comfort of a suspended system and the stability of an anchored system. Bio-Channel sleeper floats on premium pads within steel channel. Channel is anchored to concrete slab. Plywood subfloor attaches to sleeper, then maple tops the plywood. Dimensionally very stable, high shock absorption. The industry's first anchored-resilient maple system combining the structural and dimensional stability of anchored flooring with the shock-absorbing comfort of resilient flooring. Uniformity and no dead spots are assured, as are just the right amount of deflection and shock absorption for user comfort. This patented system is DIN approved.

Bio-Channel STAR
Bio-Channel Star (formerly Bio-Channel II) combines the structural and dimensional stability of anchored flooring with the shock-absorbing comfort of resilient sports flooring. A plywood sleeper floats on 7/16” Bio-Pads® within a steel channel that’s anchored to the concrete floor. A uniform playing surface with no dead spots is assured, as is the right amount of deflection and shock absorption. DIN approved Bio-Channel Star includes specially profiled maple strip.

Bio-Channel LP™
Robbins NEW low-profile Bio-Channel LP™, has taken indoor athletic surfacing to a whole new evolution. The Bio-Channel LP system evolves from the popular Bio-Channel “Classic” design currently found in NBA and NCAA facilities across the country. Bio-Channel LP has a lower profile than its predecessor and makes it a logical choice for renovation projects, as well as new construction. The factory-routed subfloor components and #16 gauge steel channels ensure exact and uniform placement while allowing ample lateral movement to minimize stress on the floor. This unique, steel-channel, design is supported by a continuous layer of Robbins’ Zero/G™ underlayment to cushion the impact force generated by today’s athlete and to provide100% uniformity and ball bounce for unparalleled feel, sound and play. Now, Robbins offers two Bio-Channel options for an athletic floor unparalleled in the industry.

Bio-Cushion®
High shock-absorbing strip maple system. This free-floating maple system is bio-mechanically engineered for enhanced comfort and performance for athletes of all levels. DIN approved, Bio-Cushion features premium EPDM rubber pads and specially profiled load distribution subfloor so that the installation can be "tuned" to achieve the desired playing characteristics.

Portable All Star
The Cincinnati Portable All Star®, the industry's most popular portable basketball floor, provides the convenience, durability and playing characteristics demanded by the world's greatest sports arenas. Panels are 4' x 8', constructed of a northern maple tongue-and-groove surface over a plywood subsurface supported by specially treated wood framing. Hidden "drop pin" panel locking system ensures speedy set up and removal.

Portable All Star Plus
Used by NBA teams and ballet companies to protect their performers and athletes, All-Star® Plus features the same time-tested performance of our All-Star® design with an enhanced shock-absorption feature that reduces impact forces on the athletes. Panels interlock using steel-encased tongue-and-grooves between panels to withstand years of set up and dismantling.

Mach-1
Mach-1 is the ultimate combination of performance and technology. Featuring the Bio-Cradle™  anchored resilient, engineered sub-floor and premium Continuous Strip® XL maple, Mach-1 is a fully DIN certified high performance maple floor system. An environmentally friendly system utilizing XL technology exclusively, Mach-1 uses far less sub-floor materials typical to many other high-performance maple floor systems. Robbins exclusive technology, including Continuous Strip XL, the Bio-Cradle sub-floor and new installation techniques, makes Mach-1 the choice when extremely quick installation and high performance are required.

Sportwood Ultra Star
Sportwood Ultra Star is a versatile maple flooring system with high performance characteristics. This DIN-approved suspended system consists of double-profile, cavity-backed 7/16" (11mm) EPDM rubber Bio-Pads; two layers of 1/2" (12mm) plywood; Robbins’ elastomeric Sportwood adhesive, and edge-grained northern hard maple Sportwood. This product’s low profile (as low as 1-11/16" (43mm) total thickness) makes it an attractive alternative for retrofitting or renovations.

Air Channel Star XL
"Get your team off to a great start with Air-Channel Star featuring Continuous Strip XL. It has a low-profile engineered sleeper for excellent dimensional stability, Robbins Bio-Pads for shock absorbency and Posi-Anchor® pins for greater stability and uniformity. Air-Channel star is a high performance, anchored-resilient solution."

Synthetic Systems:

Chem Turf®
economical poured-in-place polyurethane sports flooring available in 3/16", 1/4", 3/8", or 1/2" thickness. No seams, wear surface is recoatable for added durability and value. 100% domestically made, V.O.C. - compliant elastomeric resin. Comes in a Gray, Red, Green, Gold, Tan and a variety of custom colors. Ideal for multi-purpose applications.

Durathon®
combines natural rubber for resilience and tear resistance with synthetic rubber for strength and long life. Solid color from top to bottom with no multi-colored fibers, Durathon® can stand up to heavy traffic and hard use, and still maintain its outstanding resilience and uniform appearance year after year. Surface textures include field house embossing for multi-purpose use, and track embossing for running tracks. Won't fade, crack, peel or wear unevenly, and requires no coatings.

Pulastic®
A resilient floor system comprised of a pre-fabricated rubber underlayment topped with self-leveling polyurethane. Features and roller-applied resurfaceable topcoat for easy maintenance and durability. An ideal multi-purpose room surface, Pulastic can withstand extreme abuse and still maintain proper traction, ball bounce, shock and sound absorption qualities. Available in spike resistant and DIN-approved formulations.

Combination System:

Maple / Synthetic Combination Floor System
With Robbins, you can combine our synthetic systems with an engineered subfloor design to create unmatched performance characteristics. Many of Robbins synthetic surfaces are suitable for use over a subfloor with resilient rubber pads to create a combination point elastic/area flooring system for ultimate comfort, safety and performance. Performance and resilience can be "tuned" to the application required.
