A two-step vented Nailable Base insulation system that allows for staggering of the joints between the polyiso foam and the vented nailing panels. Staggering of the joints between the two components minimizes the risk of thermal short-circuits in the total system. This system also makes spacing the nailing panels easier, which allows them to expand properly. The nailing panels come with the required wood furring strips for easy installation of the system.

Product Description
Advantage Vented Nailable Base-3 roofing insulation is a two-component system composed of Rmax's, HCFS-free, polyisocyanurate foam insulation and a separate OSB nailing surface, with 3/4" furring strips attached. The insulation portion of this product is Rmax's rigid closed cell polyisocyanurate foam with glass fiber/organic mat facers laminated to top and bottom surfaces. The second step nailing surface of this product is a 7/16" OSB wood panel (APA Rated) with factory applied 3/4" furring strips. This nailing surface is installed over the insulation in a second step to complete the overall product installation.
The insulation is laid on the roof deck with staggered joints and tightly abutted edges to minimize thermal short-circuits. Thermal bridging can be further reduced by using two layers of insulation when higher R-values are required. The nailing surface can then be installed, staggering joints from the insulation below, with the proper 1/16" gaps between OSB panels. This allows for the differences in expansion of the OSB versus insulation.
Follow recommendations of the shingle supplier for application of underlayment felts and other details as required for roof pitches of less than 3" in 12" per foot slope. Rmax recommends that a layer of roofing felt be installed over wood roof decks prior to installing Advantage Vented Nailable Base-3 Polyiso Roofing Insulation.
Applications
Rmax's Advantage Vented Nailable Base-3 Polyiso Roofing Insulation is superior for use in residential or commercial roofing applications where a vented assembly is desired. Advantage Vented Nailable Base-3 Polyiso Roofing Insulation is applied to the roof structure in order to provide a layer of thermal insulation and a suitable substrate for the application of a variety of shingles. Refer to specs sheet for specifications on securing Advantage Vented Nailable Base-3 Polyiso Roofing Insulation to roof structure.
