Commercial Thresholds

Pemko offers a wide variety of thresholds, floor plates, and accessories to fit any commercial building application. Pemko thresholds are commonly used in schools, hospitals, office buildings, shopping malls, recreation centers, hotels, etc. Pemko’s commercial thresholds include: Standard Saddles, Thermal Barrier Saddles, Latching Panic Exit Saddles, Carpet and Special Purpose Thresholds, Floor Closer Thresholds, Cover Plate Assemblies, as well as threshold accessories such as Aluminum Plates, Threshold Fasteners, and Stop Strips. This large variety of quality, fully tested threshold types make Pemko the smart choice to complete any commercial door assembly.

Pemko manufactures saddle, half saddle, and offset saddle type thresholds to accommodate a wide variety of door or entryway conditions.

A popular variation of the regular saddle is Pemko’s Thermal Barrier Saddle. The black, rigid vinyl key between extrusions provides a thermal barrier to prevent outdoor temperature fluctuations from adversely affecting the indoor environment.

Latching panic exit saddles are used in conjunction with a vertical rod exit device or as a stop and a seal at the bottom of door. The latching panic exit saddles are available with a thermal barrier black rigid vinyl key. These units are not welded. Elevators can be used for offset conditions.

Pemko offers carpet and other special purpose thresholds designed to accommodate carpet to carpet and carpet to floor transitions. These are commonly used in hotels, homes, offices and other applications.

Pemko offers floor closer thresholds and cover plate assemblies for use with automatic door closers. Options include notching and full miters to ensure a perfect custom fit.

Threshold accessories include aluminum plates, threshold fasteners, and stop strips.

Use Pemko aluminum plates wherever a cover plate, expansion joint plate or wide extra-strength metal plate is needed. Aluminum plates are superior in strength to extruded sections and come in a standard aluminum finish (A) with a smooth surface (no flutes). Maximum width is 48", Maximum standard length is 96" (Maximum “special order” length is 144"). All aluminum plates are provided NET length. Both edges are beveled at a 45° angle, starting half way up the thickness; “single edge bevel” or “no bevel” is also available at no extra cost. Plates are supplied un-drilled unless otherwise specified.

Pemko also offers threshold fasteners. SIL-LOK threshold anchor channel assembly extruded aluminum channel with screw and locking device creates a fully adjustable threshold anchoring system for concrete installation. Simple installation: Channel is secured by dove-tail design after concrete is poured. After installation of the channel, polyurethane liner should be removed from inside of channel. Machine screws are inserted through the threshold, and the locking devices are then attached to the end of the screws. The locking devices are inserted into the channel, and as the screws are tightened, the locking devices swing and lock under the flanges of the channel. The threshold may be removed by loosening the screws completely, and the locking devices will release into the channel for future reinstallation. Fasteners are available in 36", 72" and 144" lengths. Specify 1/4"-20 drill for any threshold which is to be used with the SL450U.

Finally, use Threshold Stop Strips with standard flat top threshold saddle to provide a door stop and seal at bottom of door. Stop strips are supplied predrilled, with #10-24 Phillips, flat head machine screws of appropriate length. Note: These stops will effect the pivot hole location for closer assemblies.

Thresholds are available in several attractive finishes. Finishes include: mill finish aluminum, bright dip gold, dark bronze anodized aluminum, gold anodized aluminum, satin nickel anodized aluminum, architectural brass as well as an extensive assortment of custom finishes to match almost any available hardware finish.
