With the advent of sustainable design and its emphasis on daylighting, architects
are looking for architectural glasses that offer high levels of visible light
transmittance along with a more understated look than the mirror-like appearance
of traditional reflective glass. With the introduction of Vistacool™
Azuria™ glass those desires have finally been met.
Vistacool (2) Azuria imparts an exceptionally rich and lustrous
aqua-blue sheen, and brings a comfortably bright neutral appearance to both
the interior and exterior glass. This is a direct result of the second-surface
Vistacool coating, which not only transmits high levels of
daylight, but, due to its color neutrality, also serves to amplify the tint
of the glass substrate underneath, creating a crisper, cleaner and more pristine
exterior aesthetic.
With its high visible light transmittance and an enhanced solar heat gain coefficient,
Vistacool Azuria glass combines excellent daylighting characteristics
with strong energy performance, especially when joined in an insulating glass
unit with solar control Low-E or low-E coated glass.
In clear one-inch insulating glass units, Vistacool Azuria
produces Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) of 47 percent and Solar Heat Gain
Coefficients (SHGC) of 0.34. This yields Light-to-Solar Gain (LSG) ratios of
1.39. For even better solar control, Vistacool Azuria can be
coupled with Sungate® 500 Low-E glass or Solarban®
60 Solar Control Low-E Glass in an insulating glass unit.
