SL73 Hurricane Approved Aluminum Framed Folding System

The SL73 is a thermally broken aluminum folding panel system designed to provide an opening glass wall or storefront up to 38’ or more wide . It is available in various configurations utilizing one to twelve panels or more. The running post design provides extra stability. An option for swing entry/exit panel(s) is available. Units can be either inward or outward opening.

Miami-Dade County, FL NOA – Hurricane and Impact Rated
In accordance with Miami Dade County Test Protocols TATAS 201 (large missile impact), TATAS 202 (structural pressure, air, water (raised sill only), forced entry), and TATAS 203 (cyclic pressure), Nana Wall Systems has successfully tested and passed the SL73 in both inswing and outswing applications. The results apply for all stacking configurations. With panel sizes of 3’ x 8’, SL73 inswing with raised sill achieved a DPDP rating of +70 psf / -100 psf, SL73 outswing with raised sill and SL73 inswing/outswing with saddle sill achieved DPDP ratings of +/- 70 psf. With smaller panel sizes, higher DPDP ratings of up to + 80 psf / -110 psf for inswing with raised sill and +80 psf / -90 psf for outswing with raised sill and inswing/outswing with saddle sill are possible. AAMA 506-06 Hurricane Impact Rated
The above test units with insulated impact glass, are rated per AAMA 506-06, "Voluntary Specifications for Hurricane Impact and Cycling Testing of Fenestration Products." The inward opening unit met the performance requirements for a +55/-90 psf Design Pressure with missile impacts corresponding to Missile Level D and Wind Zone 4. The outward opening unit met the performance requirements for a -55/+90 psf Design Pressure with missile impacts corresponding to Missile Level D and Wind Zone 4.

NFRC-Approved Thermal Performance / Energy Star
SL73 inswing and outswing models with all sill options have been rated, certified and labeled in accordance with NFRC 100 and NFRC 200. With certain glass options, Energy Star U Value and SHGC requirements for certain climate zones can be met.

Mid-rise performance
Tested to much higher structural performance levels required for mid rises. Tested to higher static water testing required for mid rises. Inswing / outswing with raised sill achieved a water rating of no leakage at 12 psf. Tested to new dynamic water testing using pulsating water to closer resemble the wind driven rain of a hurricane.

Large Exterior Openings Are Possible
The SL73 can be custom sized for openings with as few as one panel to as many as twelve panels with a maximum width of 38' (11600 mm) wide. Custom panel heights up to 8' (2440 mm) or unit heights to 8'3" (2515 mm).

Choice of Finishes
A choice of hundreds of high quality powder coated, anodized and PVDF Kynar finishes are available. Dual color and wood grain powder coated finishes are also available.

Choose from single impact, clear or Low-E insulated glazing with many tint options. Dry glazed to make replacement of glass easy, if ever needed.

Sill Options
ADA saddle and high performance sills available

Secure
A choice of locking options and handle shapes and finishes are available. Custodial hardware is also available. Stainless steel hinges and handles for corrosion resistance along the coast. Stainless steel rollers and stainless steel sill track cover for ease of operation.

Superior Thermal Break
Thermally broken with a 15/16 (24 mm) polymide material reinforced with glass fibers, aluminum profiles provide increased strength, superior humidity control, improved acoustics and energy efficiency.

High Ratings AAMA 506-06 Hurricane Impact and AAMA/WDMA/CSA/101/I.S2/A440 Tests
Units with panel sizes of 3’ x 8’ were tested per AAMA506-06, “Voluntary Specifications for Hurricane Impact and Cycling Testing of Fenestration Products” and ASTM E1886 and ASTM E1996 with missile impacts corresponding to Missile Level Dand Wind Zone 4. SL73 inswing with a raised sill met the performance requirements for a +90 psf/-110 psf Design Pressure. SL73 outswing with a raised sill and inswing/outswing with saddle sills met the performance requirements for a +/- 90 psf Design Pressure. AAMAA440 test results for structural pressure, air, water and forced entry were the same as Dade County Protocol TAS 202.

High Ratings with Both Static and Dynamic Pressure Water Resistance Tests
SL73 inswing/outswing with raised sill achieved a water rating of no leakage at 12 psf per ASTM E547/E331 static water test. SL73 inswing with raised sill achieved a Performance Level 2 (no leakage more than allowable at 6-18 psf) and SL73 outswing with raised sill achieved a Performance Level 1 (no leakage more than allowable at 5-15 psf) per AAMA520 dynamic water test.

Large Exterior Openings Are Possible
With NanaWall® folding systems, openings can range from as few as two panels to as many as twelve panels and can be as wide as 43'. With paired panels, virtually unlimited widths are possible.

Engineered, Tested System from a Single Source Supplier
NanaWalls have been engineered and independently tested for air and water penetration resistance, structural deflection, thermal performance and forced entry. The SL60, SL70 and SL73 are NFRC certified and labeled, and have also been tested for acoustic performance. The SL73 is Miami-Dade County/AAMA hurricane approved and state wide Florida approved. All aluminum systems (except SL35) are state wide Florida approved.

Secure
Multiple point locking that operates with a turn of a handle. The top and bottom shoots bolts between each folding pair of panels have a full one inch throw. Independent tests confirm that the locking system passes strict California forced entry testing requirements. No surface mounted flush bolts for standard units.

Versatile Functions
Versatile functions with swing entry/exit panel(s) option and with flexibility to fully or partially open. Ease of operation to quickly open or close wide openings.

Over fifty stacking configurations as well as inward opening, outward opening, or center pivoted options. Unhinged paired panels option for maximum stacking flexibility and larger opening walls. 90°, 135°, segmented or other angled units.

European styling and handsome, sleek lines allow glass areas to be maximized. All folding and locking hardware is integrated into the profiles for a clean look and for narrow stacking. No surface mounted hinges.

Continued, Long-Term Satisfactory Operation
Smooth sliding and folding operation, even when the bottom track has some dirt and sand in it. State-of-the-art hardware with ball bearing running carriages. On top hung systems, the main weight is carried by the head track. On floor mounted systems, the lower running carriage rides on top of the sill track. Variable interlocking of profiles minimizes expansion problems. Long term ease of operation with adjustment features.

Design Flexibility
Design freedom with custom sizes, thermally broken and non-thermal options, glazing choices, and monumental series for larger panels or heavier glass panes. Top hung or floor supported. Raised sill or flush sill options. A large selection of muntin layouts is offered. Horizontal mullions, SDL muntins with spacer bars, solid panels, or other custom layouts are available.

Choice of Finishes

Hardware Options
A choice of different locking options are available depending on need. Different handle finishes are also available see "Hardware" in the General Introduction. Depending on the configuration selected, door closers can be incorporated and units can be prepared for panic devices provided by others. Custodial hardware is also available.

Complete, Coordinated Glass Walls

NanaScreenTM
The NanaScreenTM, a series of collapsible pleated screen panels riding a single track, is available as an option. The system can be installed within the opening or, with extended tracks, be hidden out of view when not in use; see the Screens section for more information.
