612 TREAD SERIES NOTES

Product Description

No. 612: The original universal diamond design molded rubber stair tread. Diamonds extend to a 9" (229mm) depth. Treads have a 3" (76mm) smooth rear border and a square molded 1-1/2" (38mm) nosing. An ideal covering for heavily travelled commercial or industrial stairways. Treads are installed using Musson No. 400 Neoprene Contact Adhesive applied to back of tread, to back of nose and to step; and No. 110 Musson Epoxy Stair Caulk inside where nose joins tread. No. 612 Series Treads are available in the following standard sizes: 36" (914mm), 42" (1066mm), 48" (1219mm), 54" (1372mm), 60" (1524mm), and 72" (1829mm).

No. GS612: Similar to No. 612 with the addition of two 3/4" (19mm) wide mineral-coated abrasive Grit-Strips recessed and bonded in machine ground grooves at the impact point of pedestrian traffic. Grit-Strips are available in several colors and are replaceable. Any color strip may be inserted in any of the Grit-Strip treads.

No. GS612VI: Similar to No. 612 with the addition of one 2" (51mm) wide mineral-coated abrasive Grit-Strip for Visually Impaired persons, recessed and bonded in a machine ground groove at the impact point of pedestrian traffic. Treads meet the requirements of California State Standard Code Title 24, Section 2-3306(R) for the Visually Impaired. Grit-Strip is available in several colors and is replaceable. Any color strip may be inserted in any of the Grit-Strip treads.

Available Grit-Strip Colors

Grit-Strip inserts are available in the following colors: Black, Yellow, Brown, Gray. Any color may be inserted in the Grit-Strip treads. Strips are replaceable. Black color strips will be supplied unless specified otherwise.

A. Furnish and install Musson No. 612 Molded Rubber Diamond Design Treads, 5/16" (8mm) thick, 12-3/8" (314mm) deep with square 1-1/2" (38mm) long molded nose and a 3" (76mm) smooth rear border. Treads shall have a sanded back; contain no asbestos fiber; made of properly cured homogenous rubber compound, color extending throughout thickness; free from embedded foreign material or imperfections which might lessen serviceability. Tread color shall be _____ . Standard size tread shall be __" ( __mm). Install treads using #400 Musson Neoprene Contact Adhesive and #110 Musson Epoxy Stair Nose Caulking. Treads shall meet Federal Specs. RR-T-65OD and ZZ-T-00-1237 (GSA-FSS).

B. Furnish and install Musson No. GS612 Molded Rubber Grit-Strip Diamond Design Treads, 5/16" (8mm) thick, 12-3/8" (314mm) deep with square 1-1/2" (38mm) long molded nose and a 3" (76mm) smooth rear border. Treads shall have a sanded back; contain no asbestos fiber; made of properly cured homogenous rubber compound, color extending throughout thickness; free from embedded foreign material or imperfections which might lessen serviceability. Provide two 3/4" (19mm) wide mineral-coated abrasive Grit-Strips inlaid in machine ground grooves, 1" (25mm) from front edge, spaced 3/4" (19mm) apart. Color of Grit-Strips shall be _____ (Black furnished unless specified otherwise). Tread color shall be _____ . Standard size tread shall be __" ( __mm). Install treads using Musson #400 Neoprene Contact Adhesive and Musson #110 Epoxy Stair Nose Caulking. Treads shall meet Federal Specs. RR-T-650D and ZZ-T-00-1237 (GSA-FSS).

C. Furnish and install Musson No. GS612VI Molded Rubber Grit-Strip Diamond Design Treads, 5/16" (8mm) thick, 12-3/8" (314mm) deep with square 1-1/2" (38mm) long molded nose and a 3" (76mm) smooth rear border. Treads shall have a sanded back; contain no asbestos fiber; made of properly cured homogenous rubber compound, color extending throughout thickness; free from embedded foreign material or imperfections which might lessen serviceability. Provide one 2" (51mm) wide mineral-coated abrasive Grit-Strip inlaid in a machine ground groove, 1" (25mm) from front edge. Color of Grit-Strip shall be _____ (Black furnished unless specified otherwise). Tread color shall be _____ . Standard size tread shall be __" ( __mm). D. Flame Spread Classification: all Musson molded rubber stair treads meet or surpass the requirements of the following tests:

- UL 992 Chamber Test: 2.0 or less
- ASTM E-84 Tunnel Test: 75 or less
- NFPA 253 C.R.F. Test: .9 Watts/square cm or more

E. Physical Properties: all Musson molded rubber stair treads have been tested under: ASTM D-471, Mil 1-631D, ASTM D-624 Die C, ASTM 2240 SHORE A, ASTM D-2047, ASTM E-662, ASTM E-392-73T, and SS312B.
