Walkways

Linel manufactures several types of pedestrian walkways – either segmented or true curved framing systems with half round designs mounted to the supporting structure of the walkway surface, or fully tubular sections for an all encompassing design. Walkways may incorporate laminated or insulated laminated glass in flat segments or curved glass lites.

This custom unitized slope glazing system is an extremely complex design for this spectacular bridge. In all, there are 13,462 total square feet of glass composed of 628 pieces with no two alike. 18 custom dies were produced to accomplish the architect's design. The four sided butt glazed system consists of 117 unique unit planes made up of several pieces of glass. Structural channels were applied to the glass to facilitate replacement.

We were selected to complete the glazed cover to this graceful and elegant pedestrian bridge design. The system is a 2-3/8 inch wide cap and tube rafter with internal guttering. The glazing is tinted acrylic in the radius vault location and is glass in the vision and spandrel areas. Horizontal louvers are at the junction of the vertical and vaulted glazing and at the ridge to provide convective and efficient ventilation.

Linel also provided the soffit panels beneath the bridge deck, complementing and competing the design intent to create a gentle flowing look.
