FLOORS AND CEILINGS

IBP's engineered grid system assures easy installation of glass paver floors and ceilings. The lightweight structural aluminum grid, which is assembled on site, can span up to 7'6" without additional reinforcement. In the pedestrian bridge application pictured, the floor also serves as a large skylight. Durability and beauty make IBP grids and glass pavers a logical choice for floors and ceilings.

The IBP grid system for floors was developed to provide an alternative method for installing glass paver units. This system eliminates the problems associated with conventional glass paver installations. Before the IBP system was available, glass paver units were set in grout within heavy and cumbersome prefabricated floor panels. The inflexibility of the typical concrete paver system can result in cracked or broken pavers. To prevent this problem, the IBP aluminum grid system utilizes a neoprene boot which encases the sides and bottom edges of each glass paver unit. The boot creates a cushion between the glass and the aluminum. A silicone sealant is applied to a narrow channel around each paver unit. The completed IBP floor system is beautiful and cost effective. Additionally, the IBP system circumvents the limitations of prefabricated concrete floor panels.
