DUR-A-SHIELD EPOXY FLOOR SEALER

DESCRIPTION

DUR-A-SHIELD EPOXY FLOOR SEALER is a two part, transparent, epoxy primer/sealer, designed especially for penetrating and sealing concrete floors. It cures to form a tough, smooth and glossy surface. Dur-A-Shield offers moderate resistance to abrasion, oil, grease and gasoline. This high performance primer/sealer reinforces the flooring surface because it actually penetrates deep into the concrete. A one coat application will stop "dusting" in most areas. A second coat adds durability and uniformity in appearance and a higher gloss for easy maintenance. Dur-A-Shield is recommended as a primer for other Dur-A-Flex coatings and self-leveling systems, especially if surface has been shotblasted.

SURFACE PREPARATION – Surface shall be dry and perfectly clean, free of all oil, grease, detergent film, sealers and/or curing compounds in accordance with Dur-A-Flex, Inc., document titled "Preparation Guidelines" in "Preparation/Application Details" Showcase.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
DUR-A-SHIELD EPOXY FLOOR SEALER can be applied on most any type of properly prepared concrete or masonry surface. Apply when air and surface temperatures are above 50°F. For optimum application properties, maintain Dur-A-Shield at room temperature prior to mixing. Concrete floors can be sealed by applying one coat. No reduction with thinner is necessary. For more durability and uniformity, apply two coats. Apply with roller at approximately 250 sq. ft. per gallon. Use a medium nap roller cover. Apply liberally but avoid puddles. Second coat can be applied as soon as first coat has cured dry-to-touch or up to 18 hours after finishing first coat application.

MIXING (Shake cans before opening.)
Combine 1 part hardener (A) with an equal amount of resin (B). Stir thoroughly for 3 – 5 minutes. Allow blended epoxy to stand for 60 minutes or longer, then stir again before using. Reduce with Dur-A-Solve #4 if necessary after induction period. Pot life is 12 – 18 hours. A longer "induction period" will accelerate drying, this is recommended when temperatures are below 75°F. Induction period is mandatory.

CLEANUP

Clean all equipment immediately after use with Dur-A-Solve, Dur-A-Thinner or a good quality lacquer thinner.

– Detergent and Water Clean-up
– Applies Easily with a Brush, Roller

Dur-A-Flex, Inc. 1-800-253-3539

APPLICATION METHOD

DUR-A-POXY HIGH GLOSS is to be applied to properly prepared concrete surfaces. It should be applied when air and surface temperature are above 50°F. For proper flow and wetting, maintain Dur-A-Poxy High Gloss at room temperature prior to mixing. Concrete floors can be sealed by applying only one coat, as received. The hardener (A) and resin (B) should be thoroughly mixed before combining. Scrape bottom and sides of each container. Once mixed, the resin and hardener can be combined by hand using appropriate paint stirrer or with a slow speed electric drill with a jiffler-type mixing attachment. Thorough blending is necessary for proper system cure. Apply with a medium nap roller @ 250 square feet per gallon. DUR-A-POXY HIGH GLOSS will appear milky after application. As the formula de-aerates, it will become very glossy and clear.

CAUTION
DUR-A-POXY HIGH GLOSS contains epoxy resins which may irritate sensitive skin. Avoid prolonged skin contact. If contact occurs, wash with soap and water. Wear gloves and eye shields.
