- The EZ Fold main frame pivots on a 1 1/4" diameter solid steel shaft,
welded into the top of our “T” frame and secured in a 1/2" thick
steel plate hanger.
- Each hanger attaches to the superstructure with four 1/2" bolts, a
total of eight bolts per “T” frame.
- Compare: other manufacturers suspend their entire frame (weighing as much as
1500 to 2000 pounds) with two 1/2" bolts.
- Our engineers custom design every system to fit your facility. We don’t
use stock assemblies.
- We build every backstop so that the side braces join the main stem at exactly
54" above the goal. This ensures maximum structural integrity of the tetrahedral
design.
- Compare: other manufacturers attach their side braces at the midpoint of the
stem or even higher.
- For ceiling heights under 26', EZ Fold models have an all welded “T” frame
assembly.
- All connections are precision “saddle” cut to provide full surface
contact and unmatched quality.
- A bolted frame assembly is used for ceiling heights over 26' because of the large
frame sizes required.
- Inner webbing braces are incorporated for high strength.
- The EZ Fold frame is manufactured of high quality steel mechanical tubing.
Steel mechanical tubing has a higher strength-to-weight ratio than steel pipe.
The whole system is lighter, with no compromise to its strength.
- Lower static and dynamic loads are placed on the backstop mechanisms and ceiling
structure.
- Quality control specifications are much stricter for steel mechanical tubing
than for steel pipe.
- Steel mechanical tubing has a surface finish of a much higher grade than that
of steel pipe.
- Draper’s strength starts from the top down. We supply all 4" O.D.
11 gauge overhead superstructure with all spans greater than 10', including
bridge trussing.
- Compare: the competitors use a combination of 3-1/2" and 2-3/8" tubing
in their overheads and do not start using bridge trussing until span exceeds
14'.
- Beam clamps are “Split–A” type with at least 7 sq. in. of
beam flange contact area.
Beam clamps are secured with two all-thread bolts at each attachment point.
-
Compare: others use clamps having minimal flange contact and using only a single
all-thread bolt.
-
Full surface clamps of 1/4" thick steel in 2", 4" and 6" widths
are used to attach components (inner webbing, EZ Lock safety belt, jackknife,
etc.) guaranteeing a rigid, non-slip, vibrationless, permanent structure.
-
Compare: others use single and “U” bolt type connectors.
-
The Goal Brace attaches behind the goal mounting plate and directly to the
main stem of the backstop, eliminating any strain on the backboards.
-
Stress loads are transferred directly from the goal to the backstop frame.
-
Goal Brace conforms to the latest NCAA and NFSHSA recommendations and is standard
on EZ Fold “T” series backstops using glass backboards.
- Powder coating is the advanced method we use to apply a scratch-resistant color
finish to our steel mechanical tubing on all EZ Fold Basketball Backstops.
Black and white are standard, and other colors are available at a minimal additional
charge.
- With nearly unlimited colors to choose from, you can specify your school colors,
or the color of your choice to have the backstop match the gym decor.
- Powder coating creates a smooth, durable, protective finish. Minimizes touch-ups
following product installation. Considered the most attractive and durable
finish on the market today.
