Micro-filtrationMicrofiltration membranes reduce turbidity, remove residual suspended solids and reduce bacteria to condition the water for effective disinfection and can also be used as a pre-treatment step for a subsequent reverse osmosis process. Ultra-filtrationUltra filtration membranes are used to reduce turbidity, remove residual suspended solids and remove high molecular weight dissolved compounds, such as colloids, proteins and carbohydrates. Nano-filtrationNano-filtration is used to remove selected dissolved constituents such as multivalent metallic ions, remove organic substances and remove viruses and bacteria. Reverse OsmosisReverse Osmosis is based on the ability of a semi-permeable membrane to separate dissolved solids from water. The application of pressure to the influent causes water to pass through the membrane. Pure water (permeate) is separated from the concentrate solution (reject). Osmotic membranes perform the best level of filtration and are barriers to salts and to organic substances including micro-contaminants, pesticides, pyrogens, viruses and bacteria. Reverse Osmosis also eliminates the need for chemical regenerants.
