Girt Types (By-pass)
By-pass Sidewall Girts are 8 1/2 or 10 inches deep as required for
optimum design. By-pass Girts on the end wall are 8 1/2 inches deep. These
girts attach to the outer flange of the building columns. By-pass girts
are designed as continuous across columns and offer the most economical
wall framing when column depth inside the building is not a consideration.
Continuous girts are analyzed by a stiffness matrix analytical procedure
which takes into account the variation in stiffness due to increased moment
of inertia at laps.
