Bird Barrier America

Bird Barrier Granted Patent for its Bird Shock® Flex-Track Device

The leading electrified bird deterrent in America has now been formally recognized by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, which recently granted a Patent on the device (U.S. Patent No. 7,481,021).

Bird Barrier introduced its Flex-Track electric bird deterrent in 2004 and the product became an instant hit. It was, after all, the first flexible product that featured a metal braid sewn onto a flexible PVC base. "It has always been difficult to marry something hard like metal to something soft that will roll up and follow the curves of a building," said Cameron Riddell, Bird Barrier's founder and president. "We tried a lot of different things and finally came to the perfect marriage between a flexible plastic base and a stainless steel braid made up of hundreds of small wires. Sewing them together seemed odd at first but we quickly realized that it was the perfect way to lock the two materials together. Naturally we are extremely happy and gratified to have the United States Patent Office formally recognize our innovative and uniquely effective solution to this age-old problem."

Bird Barrier's Flex-Track product is installed by hundreds of PMPs across America because it is fast and easy to install, very effective, and at only 1/4" tall, is almost invisible. Building owners, when given the choice between spikes and the Flex-Track™ product, generally choose the track.

Bird Shock® Flex-Track deterrent is available in five different colors and comes in 50-foot rolls. The metal braids connect to a charger that sends a harmless but painful pulse down the braids every two to three seconds. This flexible product easily and durably conforms to curves and other architectural features, and comes with connectors that make it easy to turn corners or connect adjacent sections of the product together. Bird Barrier carries accessories like glue, tools and voltage testers.

Companies that want to learn how easy it is to install can watch the installation video at www.birdbarrier.tv (click on Flex-Track). Of course, genuine, patented Flex-Track is only available from Bird Barrier and its authorized distributors.

Bird Barrier offers a complete line of bird deterrent systems including netting, spikes, traps, repellent gel and of course the Bird Shock® Flex-Track device. The company ships out of its warehouses in Los Angeles, CA and Secaucus, NJ. Bird Barrier can be reached 800-NO-BIRDS or online at www.birdbarrier.com

In an unrelated story, Bird Barrier's Riddell was recently interviewed on KABC in Los Angeles after the miraculous Hudson River crash of the US Airways flight a couple of weeks ago. You can watch the clip at www.birdbarrier.com, and then click on the ABC logo.

Bird Barrier America

America’s Most Comprehensive Selection of Bird Control Products

Bird Barrier offers America’s most comprehensive line of bird control products. All problems caused by nesting, roosting or loafing birds can be permanently solved by one of Bird Barrier’s, humane, discreet, mechanical products. Today’s architects now have an alternative to ineffective sound devices, sticky gels, plastic owls and snakes, inflatable eyes and razor-sharp spikes. Say good-bye to ineffective products, say hello to Bird Barrier’s wide range of guaranteed bird relocation systems.

Humane

All Bird Barrier products are truly humane and cruelty free. While other products with sharp spikes claim to be humane, Bird Barrier’s products truly cannot hurt birds or humans who come into contact with them.

Certification Program

Bird Barrier is the only company in America offering a comprehensive certification program for installers. Each year, 1,000 technicians take Bird Barrier’s two-day training program to learn the entire spectrum of bird problems, control technologies, safety, access equipment, estimating and guarantees. This program is available to end-users, and also helps to build a powerful network of certified installers who can help you with your bird control needs. Call 800-503-5444 for a list of installers in your area.

Why Move Birds?

Birds pose very dangerous health risks to humans. Their droppings carry diseases (like salmonella, meningitis, and histoplasmosis), damage paint and eat through roofing materials. Their nests are hosts to parasites and the source of foul smelling debris. Bird nests constantly increase the risk of electrical fires and roof damage due to plugged drains. They are the only pest with the ability to deposit large quantities of disease carrying agents directly on building air-intake sources, window ledges or overhead platforms. Bird problems should be taken very seriously.

Bird Problems: No Two Are The Same

Bird control problems come in all shapes and sizes. Too often we tend to underestimate the level of commitment birds have for a site, with expensive, unsuccessful results. Nesting birds will fight very hard to return to their roost, while loafing birds can be moved easily from a location. Additionally, one bird problem may call for birds to be kept from a visible ledge, while another may call for birds to be completely excluded from a courtyard or an open area. With so many different types of bird problems existing on man-made structures, it would be futile to assume that any one product could solve them all. Bird Barrier’s product line and network of certified installers can take care of your problems.

Bird Pressure: Three Categories of Bird Problems

Heavy Pressure:

Birds are very committed to the site, and will attempt to undermine any attempts to remove them; in many cases they will succeed. Areas where nests can be found are always heavy pressure sites.

Medium Pressure:

Birds are fairly committed to medium pressure sites, although not as strongly committed as they are to heavy pressure sites. They generally use these areas to sun themselves, or to survey an area below for food opportunities.

Light Pressure:

Birds are only slightly committed to these sites, and can be persuaded to move with minimal efforts and less substantial products.

A Product for Every Situation

Because of the vast array of bird problems present on our city’s buildings (see above), Bird Barrier offers an integrated line of products that can effectively and permanently solve any structural bird problem without the use of chemicals, toxins or sticky agents that damage buildings. Bird Barrier offers five different products, one for each type of bird problem:

Strong working knowledge of electrical components recommended. - Recommended application: Ledges, beams, etc. of narrow or wide configuration where any species of bird is roosting or nesting.

Economy

- These Products Pay for Themselves Because Bird Barrier’s products are made from high-grade stainless steel and U.V. protected plastics, they can ensure a long-term solution. Successful bird proofing jobs will result in less clean-up expense, longer lasting roofs, more time between paint jobs, less damage from plugged drains and gutters, and less exposure to lawsuits by people who become ill or slip and fall in bird droppings. Bird Barrier products pay for themselves time and time again. And, with the exception of occasional spot checks, the products are maintenance free and should last as long as the building itself.
