PRODUCTS
MATERIALS
Steel Sheet: All sheet steel used in fabrication shall be prime grade free from scale and imperfections and capable of taking a heavy coat of high gloss baked enamel.
Stainless Steel: 304 stainless steel with no.4 finish shall be used for all recessed handles and lock hole cover plates.
Fasteners: Zinc plated steel; bolt heads to be slotless type.
Equipment: Hooks and hang rods of zinc plated steel.
Number Plates: To be polished aluminum with not less than 3/8" high engraved numbers attached to door with two aluminum rivets. Numerals to be silver on black background.
FABRICATION
GENERAL: Lockers shall be MAGNUM STUDENT K.D. LOCKERS as manufactured by Art Metal Products. Fabricate lockers square, rigid and without warp, with metal faces flat and free from dents or distortion. Make all exposed metal edges safe to touch. Weld frame members together to form rigid, one-piece structure. Weld, bolt or rivet other joints and connections as standard with manufacturer. Grind exposed welds flush. Do not expose bolts or rivet heads on fronts of locker doors or frames.
FINISHING: All surfaces shall be thoroughly cleaned with a seven stage hot-spray washing process and coated with an insoluble iron phosphate film to inhibit corrosion, followed by a coat of high grade enamel electrostatically sprayed and baked at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for a minimum of 20 minutes to provide a tough durable finish. Color to be selected from our 24 standard colors. Two-tone color combination (frame one color and the doors a second color) is available at no additional cost. Interior body parts shall be our standard neutral color.
FRAME: Fabricate vertical frame members of 14 gauge channel formations, with integral continuous door stop/strike formed on both latch and hinge side. Frame cross members of 16 gauge channel shapes, including intermediate cross members on double and triple tier frames with doors 20" and higher, shall be securely welded to the vertical framing members to ensure rigidity. Rubber bumpers shall be provided to cushion door closing.
MAGNUM WARDROBE DOORS: Outer door to be fabricated from single sheet prime 14 gauge sheet steel with single bends at top and bottom and double bends at the sides with an 18 gauge full height channel door stiffener MIG welded to the inside of door face at the hinge side as well as the top and bottom door flanges. Doors are solid (non-ventilated). Optional Secure-Air-Flow ventilation available at no additional cost.
MAGNUM DOOR RECESSED LOCKER HANDLE: All locker doors shall have recessed stainless steel cup and handle shaped to receive a padlock or built-in combination lock. The pull handle shall be the full width of the recess pan, fabricated of stainless steel and be welded to the recess pan flush with the door face for easy opening of the locker door.
MAGNUM LATCH ASSEMBLY: Shall be single point rigid non-moving positive latch by means of a heavy gauge (minimum 11 gauge) latch securely welded to the 14 gauge vertical frame member. The latch assembly must be made of a single piece of steel and have a padlock loop that inserts through the recess pan. The latch must be able to accept either a padlock or built-in combination lock. A pry resistant lug which inserts into the door shall be an integral part of the 11 gauge latch. A 16 ga. horizontal support channel is to be bolted to the back of the latch and the locker side to eliminate flex between the latch and frame. Rubber bumpers shall be securely attached to the door strike.
DOOR HINGES: Shall not be less than 16 gauge continuous piano hinge type, securely riveted to frame and welded to the door. Doors are to be secured to frame with rivets a minimum 9" on center.
BODY: Fabricate back and sides of 24 gauge (minimum) sheet steel, with double flanged connections extending full height. Form top, bottom and intermediate tier dividers of 24 gauge (minimum) sheet steel with single return bends at all sides. Bolt to front horizontal frame members in addition to side panels. Form hat shelves for single tier lockers of 24 gauge (minimum) sheet steel with single bends at sides and back and a double bend at front.
LOCKER ACCESSORIES
LOCKS: Recommend Master #1654 built-in combination lock (automatic operating spring bolt). Also, Master #1670 (manual operated dead-bolt) or #1525 combination padlock. Always order with a minimum of (5) Master / Control keys.
