ATR Picket Railing Systems
The Balustrade (or Picket) Guardrail
is a traditional time honored railing system which was developed and engineered
to meet the demands of architects and designers. Balustrade guardrail is
our oldest railing system and offers a safe, cost effective and efficient
system for balconies and stairs.
Current building codes set the design
criteria to include 4 in. maximum openings below the top rail. Among other
things, the pickets must be spaced such that a 4 in. diameter sphere can
not pass through the picket panel. ATR's standard design for this railing
system includes equally spaced pickets between the posts. The spaces are
uniform within each panel including the space between the post and the
first and last picket. This prevents unequal, unsightly and non-uniform
spaces adjacent to the posts, which is a common result of the rigid 4 in.
on center design, especially when post spacing varies due to project conditions.
Post spacing is determined by the
load criteria, post size, railing height and desired post spacing. In most
cases, posts are located 48 in. to 60 in. on center. ATR's standard post
spacing method divides any given railing section into equal spaces within
the maximum post spacing criteria.
The ATR Technologies Balustrade
(or Picket) guardrail system is made from various interchangeable components.
New and Custom components are constantly being developed to meet the ever
changing architectural communitys needs. All of these components are then
combined to produce hundreds of different aesthetically pleasing railing
systems to meet almost any design criteria. If the existing components
can not provide the desired appearance, custom components can be developed
as required.
Landscape fencing is often required
to match the project's guardrails. Typically, the aluminum picket fence
uses the same components. Likewise, matching gates are manufactured to
continue the design and reinforced to provide rigid and functional gates.
Pool fences and gates must meet code and access requirements.
