ATR Multi-Line/Pipe Railing Systems
The Multi-Line Guardrail (Horizontal-Line
Rail) system is an alternative concept which is popular with "high-tech"
designs. The ATR Technologies Multi-Line Guardrail offers architecturally
pleasing designs that compliment the traditional "Pipe Rail" systems.
Our Multi-Line rail system utilizes
a variety of interchangeable parts to allow the creation of many different
designs. ATR Technologies system allows round or oval components to be
combined with square or rectangular shapes to create a variety of different
architectural designs. New extrusion dies can be developed as required
in order to meet new architectural designs.
For areas accessible by the public,
current building codes set the design criteria to include 4 in. maximum
openings below the top rail. On the other hand, areas accessible for industrial
use permit the spaces below the top rail to be increased up to 12 in. maximum
openings. Among other things, the horizontal components must be spaced
properly such that a sphere of the maximum opening diameter can not pass
through the multi-line panel area. ATR's standard design for this railing
system includes equally spaced midrails below the top rail that maintain
the maximum opening criteria. Midrails tend to be substantial in order
to prevent excessive deflection, especially when actual use is considered.
Post spacing is determined by the
load criteria, post size, railing height and desired post spacing. In most
cases, posts are located 48 in. to 60 in. on center. ATR's standard post
spacing method divides any given railing section into equal spaces within
the maximum post spacing criteria.
The ATR Technologies traditional
"Pipe rail" allows for flexible designs, in-line, flush, machined fittings
and bent transitions. Typical aluminum pipe rail is manufactured with 1-1/2
in. Sch. 40 aluminum pipe. This system is used for many industrial applications
and is featured in many ornamental applications, often with bright paint
colors.
