What Is Nixalite?
Nixalite is an all 316 stainless steel wire and strip barrier that is installed to control pest birds and climbing animals on all types of surfaces. The carefully designed wire patterns of Nixalite create a physical barrier that keeps birds and climbing animals off surfaces and structures.

All Nixalite models are made entirely of 316 stainless steel wire and strip.
All Nixalite models are available in 12”(30.5cm), 16”(40.6cm), 24”(61.0cm) and 48”(122.0cm) strip lengths.
Nixalite Model S: 4” high (10.2cm), 4” wide (10.2cm) 120 points per foot, 180-degree wire coverage.
Nixalite Model H: 4” high (10.2cm), 2” wide (5.1 cm), 60 points per foot, 90 degree wire coverage.
Nixalite Model W: 5-1/2” high (14.0 cm), 3” wide (7.6cm), 120 per foot, 180-degree wire coverage.

Nixalite Model S: Full row model. General purpose model installed to control and repel all bird species, including sparrows, pigeons, starlings, seagulls and vultures.
Nixalite Model H: Half row model. Special application model installed on single exposed surfaces less than 2” (5.1 cm) in depth or in conjunction with Nixalite Model S to achieve proper protection on wider surfaces.
Nixalite Model W: Wall mount model. Special application - designed for vertical surfaces only. Do not install horizontally (down flat). Use over surfaces less than 2” (5.1 cm) in depth or over other Nixalite models in specific conditions. Use Model W along with Nixalite Model S for effective climbing animal control.
Nixalite effectively repels birds ranging in size from sparrows to vultures. It can be used as a barrier for climbing pests such as squirrels and raccoons, and has been used as a human intruder deterrent.
A properly installed Nixalite Bird Control system keeps surfaces and structures clean, eliminating maintenance and repairs caused by pest birds and nuisance animals. By keeping the surfaces clean, the Nixalite strips eliminate the risk to health and property caused by bird and animal wastes and refuse.
Nixalite Model S: Standard full row model for all bird species on all types of surfaces.
Nixalite Model H: Half-row model for surfaces less than 2” in depth (5.1cm) and with Nixalite Model S on wider surfaces to achieve proper surface coverage.
Nixalite Model W: Wall mount model for vertical surfaces only. Use above surfaces less than 2” in depth (5.1cm) or over other Nixalite Models when specified. Use with Nixalite Model S for climbing animal barrier installation.
Nixalite Blunt Tip Option: Available for Nixalite Model S and Nixalite Model H. Same as standard models with the exception of flat tipped wires.
Nixalite Mounting Hardware: Made of either stainless steel or non-corrosive materials. Standard mounting hardware is supplied with Nixalite strips in set quantities. Nixalite mounting hardware allows for strip removal and reinstallation without causing damage to the installation surface, the Nixalite strips or mounting system.

Custom Forms: Use a custom made form, bracket or strap to fasten bird control strips to difficult surfaces with limited or zero surface penetration. Contact manufacturer for custom form design. Adhesive: Possible but not recommended. Use Glue Clips from manufacturer if adhesive must be used.
The Nixalite Bird Control strips are 100% 316 stainless steel wires and strip. Unless the ColorCoat option is ordered, the Nixalite strips are delivered in the stainless steel finish (natural finish).
ColorCoat option: Standard colors are black, white, gray, tan, brown, bronze, green and red. Choose standard color that best suits application. Custom colors available. Nixalite Architectural Bird Control is a physical barrier made from 316 stainless steel wire and strip. It is an inert physical barrier and does not produce any waste or pollution. It does not require chemicals, plastics or electricity to provide effective control.
Properly installed, a Nixalite Bird Control Strip installation requires little or no maintenance.

1.1 - SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

3.1 - INSPECTION

Visually inspect all installation surfaces. Make sure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from debris or other conditions that could impede the workflow of this section. |
| B. |
Notify architect of detrimental conditions. Do not proceed until these conditions have been corrected. |
3.2 - PREPARATION
| A. |
Field Measurements: Verify dimensions of each installation surface. Use Nixalite Planning Guidelines and Nixalite Estimate Worksheet to make sure you have sufficient quantity of bird control to properly protect the specified surfaces. |
| B. |
Make sure all installation surface finishing requirements have been accomplished before installing Nixalite Bird Control Strips. Nixalite to be last item installed on specified surfaces. DO NOT apply any surface coating or treatment (paint, sealer, etc.) over the installed Nixalite Bird Control Strips or mounting hardware. |
| C. |
Remove or relocate all plants or foliage that overhangs the installation surfaces. |
3.3 - SURFACE CLEANING
| A. |
All surfaces to be clean, dry and free of obstructions before bird control is installed. |
3.4 - INSTALLATION
| A. |
Install specified Nixalite Models in strict accordance with manufacturer’s strip spacing and installation guidelines. Protect all surfaces. |
| B. |
Protect the entire surface, not just the outside edges. NO GAPS allowed in the Nixalite Strip coverage. Cut Nixalite Strips where necessary to fit the surface properly. |
| C. |
Wires of Nixalite Strips to extend over outside edge of surface by at least 1/4” (0.6cm). Nixalite Base Strip to extend over any open end of surface by at least 1/2” (1.2cm). |
| D. |
Fasten bird control strips to the surface with the mounting hardware recommended by the manufacturer. Follow hardware spacing guidelines and installation procedures supplied by manufacturer. |
